TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Rachel is currently the Contemporary Vocals Tutor at The Coda Music Centre where she provides one to one and group vocal tuition covering pop, rock, blues, jazz, soul and musical theatre to students of all ages and abilities from beginners through to coaching for professional performance.  Some of her students have physical or learning difficulties.

Other teaching experience includes performing arts institutions, running vocal workshops in local schools and arts centres and teaching privately from home.  She also organises and hosts open mic nights for singers and musicians enabling them to gain valuable real-world performance experience.

TRAINING:

Rachel has received formal training in classical singing techniques, musical theatre, jazz as well as pop and rock.  She recently completed a Teacher Training course run by the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS).  She has also studied Anne Peckham’s (The Associate Professor of Voice at Berklee College of Music) ‘Elements of Vocal Technique’ for the Contemporary Singer.

Through her links with AOTOS (Association of Teachers of Singing) and the British Voice Association she regularly attends workshops and conferences as part of her continuing professional development.

PERFORMING EXPERIENCE:

Rachel began her professional singing life as a solo singer on the local club circuit which led to her setting up her own pop and rock covers band leading to work around the UK and the Middle East, a highlight of which was performing at a Sony Music Executives’ open air conference in Dubai.

She then embarked upon a period of study on jazz techniques and performance with tutor / performer Trudy Kerr and workshops with Sheila Jordan and subsequently arranged, produced and released her debut jazz CD All My Tomorrows under her stage name Rachel More (33 Jazz Records).

Other performing experiences include The 100 Club, Upstairs at Ronnie Scotts, Dean Street Jazz Club, Live on the Park, the National Theatre, Radio 4’s Loose Ends, ITV’s Meridian Tonight and headlining at the Jazz Divas Festival, Isle of Wight.  Through her links with Kingston University’s Drama department, she became involved in Sir Peter Hall’s high profile ‘Rose of Kingston’ Theatre project appearing in fundraising concerts with celebrities from theatre, film and music including Dame Judi Dench, Samantha Bond, Charles Dance and Laurie Holloway.

She currently performs in a number of bands that reflect her varied interest in music, ranging from a contemporary pop acoustic duo, 5 piece pop and rock covers band and jazz band.

Her varied experience and love of performing combined with her passion for teaching offers a unique blend of skills which she is able to pass on to her students.
